VATICAN CITY - Today, 01 July
2010, Pope Benedict XVI received Archbishop Angelo Amato,
sdb, prefect of
the Congregation of the Causes of the Saints, in a private
audience. During that audience, the Holy Father authorized the
Congregation to promulgate the following sixteen decrees
regarding:
- a miracle, attributed to the intercession of Blessed
LUIGI GUANELLA, priest of the diocese of Como; founder of
the Congregation of the Servants of Charity (Guanellians) and of
the Institute of the Daughters of Saint Mary of Providence; born
on 19 December 1842 in Fraciscio di Campodolcino, Sondrio
(Italy) and died on 24 October 1915 in Como (Italy); beatified
on 25 October 1964;
- a miracle, attributed to the intercession of the
Venerable GIUSTINO MARIA RUSSOLILLO, priest of the
diocese of Pozzuoli; founder of the Society of Divine
Vocations (Vocationists); born on 18 January 1891 in Pianura,
Naples (Italy) and died there on 02 August 1955; declared
venerable on 18 December 1997;
- a miracle, attributed to the intercession of the
Venerable CLOTILDE MICHELI (in religion:
MARIA SERAFINA OF THE SACRED HEART), founder of the
Institute of the Sisters of the Angels; born on 11 September
1849 in Imér, Trent (Italy) and died on 24 March 1911 in
Faicchio, Benevento (Italy); declared venerable on 03 July 2009;
- a miracle, attributed to the intercession of the
Venerable ALFONSA CLERICI, professed religious of
the Congregation of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of
Monza; born on14 February 1860 in Lainate, Milan (Italy) and
died on 14 January 1930 in Vercelli (Italy); declared
venerable on 22 June 2004;
- a miracle, attributed to
the intercession of the Venerable CECILIA EUSEPI,
layperson of the diocese of Nepi-Sutri; member of the Secular
Servites; born on 17 February 1910 in Monteromano, Viterbo
(Italy) and died on 01 October 1928 in Nepi, Viterbo (Italy);
declared venerable on 01 June 1987;
- the martyrdom
of the Servant of God JÁNOS SCHEFFLER, bishop of Satu
Mare; born on 29 October 1887 in Cămin (a.k.a. Kálmánd), Satu
Mare (Romania) and killed in odium fidei on 06 December
1952 in Bucharest (Romania);
- the
martyrdom of the Servants of God JOSÉ MARÍA RUIZ CANO,
professed priest; born on 13 September 1906 in Jerez de
los Caballeros, Badajoz (Spain) and killed in odium fidei
on 27 July 1936 in El Otero, Sigüenza (Spain); JESÚS ANÍBAL
GÓMEZ y GÓMEZ, professed cleric; born on 13 June 1914 in Tarso, Antioquia
(Colombia); TOMÁS CORDERO y CORDERO, professed cleric;
born on 08 June 1910 in Robledino de Valduerna, León (Spain);
both killed in odium fidei on 28 July 1936 in Fernán
Caballero, Ciudad Real (Spain); and
